SRAM Launches Wireless Shifting for Triathlon Bikes

Triathlon bike tech has gotten expensive with all the new options hitting the market. As someone who has spent way too much time agonizing over component choices, I learned to get excited about updates that actually solve real problems. SRAM just announced something that falls squarely in that category. Today, I will share the details.

SRAM’s wireless shifting technology is now available in a triathlon-specific groupset built for time trial and triathlon bikes. The new Force AXS TT groupset features shifter buttons that can be mounted anywhere on the aerobars, letting you shift gears without moving your hands from the aero position.

Designed for Racing

Unlike standard road shifters, the TT-specific buttons are smaller and can be positioned wherever feels natural to you. Most athletes will probably mount them near their fingertips on the extensions, while others might prefer spots on the base bar.

That is what makes this appealing to us gear nerds who obsess over aero position — no more contorting your hands to reach a shift lever. The wireless design also eliminates cables running through the frame to the extensions, which simplifies bike setup and maintenance significantly. Anyone who has ever tried to route mechanical cables through aero extensions knows what a nightmare that can be.

Compatibility and Pricing

Here’s the good news if you’re already in the SRAM ecosystem. The Force AXS TT system works with existing SRAM AXS components, so athletes running Force or Red groupsets can just add the TT-specific shifters without replacing their entire drivetrain.

Individual shifter buttons retail for $150 each. A complete groupset package including crankset, derailleurs, battery, and TT shifters comes in at approximately $2,400. Not cheap, but honestly not unreasonable for what you’re getting compared to full Di2 TT setups.

Availability begins in March, with major triathlon bike manufacturers expected to offer the groupset as a build option on 2026 models. Probably should have led with the availability date, honestly, because I know that’s what half of you scrolled down to find.
