Zwift Adds Triathlon Training Mode with Brick Workouts

Zwift has released a new triathlon training mode that automatically transitions between swim, bike, and run workouts based on scheduled training plans.

The update includes virtual brick workouts where the platform adjusts resistance and metrics as athletes move from the trainer to the treadmill without needing to manually switch modes.

How It Works

Athletes set up their planned workout in advance. When starting the session, Zwift guides them through each discipline with appropriate rest periods. The system tracks cumulative training stress and adjusts subsequent workout intensity based on how the session is going.

For swim training, Zwift now integrates with the FORM smart swim goggles to display metrics and intervals directly in the athlete’s field of view while in the pool.

Virtual Race Simulation

Perhaps most interesting is the new race simulation feature. Athletes can virtually race iconic courses like Kona or Nice, with the trainer adjusting resistance to match the actual course profiles.

The simulation includes weather effects—training in humid conditions during a virtual Kona race will factor into the workout’s training stress calculation.

Availability

The triathlon mode is available to all Zwift subscribers at no additional cost. Some features require compatible hardware including a smart trainer and treadmill.
